Waitangi weekend, 2012 – Saturday 4 February, Sunday 5 February.
Welcome
Welcome to the webpages for the 50th Jubilee of the Auckland Joggers Club, Inc.
The club was founded in 1962 by Colin Kay and Arthur Lydiard, and was the first joggers club in the world.
This page will be updated with a report and photos when they come to hand
The programme was:
-
Saturday evening – Mix and mingle. An informal get together in the clubrooms in Puriri Drive with drinks and nibbles
-
Sunday morning – the traditional run/walk to the wall in Cornwall Park, where we will commemorate our founder. This will be followed by a hearty breakfast in the clubrooms. Alternatively, you might like to enter the Pukekohe Half Marathon run by the Pukekohe Joggers Club.
-
Sunday evening – a dine and dance at the clubrooms in Puriri Drive. During the evening, a commissioned book detailing the history of the club (written by well-known author Garth Gilmour) will be launched.
This programme still leaves plenty of time over the weekend to enjoy the company of friends or family while in Auckland.
We look forward to your company over the weekend, and hearing more stories about your glory days as a member.
If you have any questions or comments, please email us at jubilee@aucklandjoggersclub.org and we will get back to you within two working days.
